Japan Steel continues to postpone stainless steel price adjustments

On April 9, Japan Iron & Steel Stainless Steel Company announced that it had decided to postpone the domestic contract price adjustment for nickel-based and chromium-based stainless steel cold-rolled sheets and plate in April. This is the second consecutive month of postponing price adjustments.


On March 5, Japan Iron & Steel Stainless Company announced that it was difficult to see the impact of the spread of fresh pneumonia on the market and decided to postpone the domestic price adjustment of nickel-based, chromium-based stainless steel cold-rolled sheet and plate in March The order quantity of cold-rolled stainless steel sheets was reduced by more than 30%.


Considering the current rapid spread of the new pneumonia pneumonia epidemic centered on large cities, the Japanese government issued an emergency declaration on April 7th, announcing that from April 7th to May 6th, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Ye Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture and Fukuoka Prefecture entered a state of emergency.


Against this background, Japan Steel made a decision to continue to postpone the price adjustment and announced on April 8 that it would take action against its head office in Tokyo, Osaka Plant, Kyushu Plant in Fukuoka Prefecture, and Hachiman Manufacturing Plant in Fukuoka Prefecture. Anti-epidemic measures, specific measures include: employee attendance is limited to the minimum necessary, in principle, face-to-face meetings, domestic and foreign business trips are prohibited
